Public Health Update

A message from our Executive Director, Paige Coffman

TO Our chicago kids company family,

In my 28 years of running this company, I never imagined a scenario like the one we are all facing.  Who could?  We have closed our shows because of blizzards… and power failures….but nothing to this degree. Due to the Covid-19 Virus, on March 13 we made the decision to close our two shows currently running: Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Alice in Wonderland.  I’m sure you have some questions:

How long will the shows be closed?

Good question! To be honest, we are not sure. As soon as our Mayor and Governor deem it appropriate to have public gatherings, we will open our theater doors again.

What if I currently hold tickets to an upcoming show?

If you have tickets for an upcoming show, we hope you will accept a credit toward a performance later this year or in our 2020-2021 season. You can also convert your purchase to a tax-deductable donation.

What else can I do now?

Another good question!  As we continue to work through this difficult time, Chicago Kids Company wants you to know that we will return!  As you already know, it is very important to continue doing what we do. Introducing children to the magic of live theater has always been our #1 goal and we fully intend to keep doing it. We love what we do!

As a small, non-profit arts organization, we currently rely on ticket sales to cover 90% of our annual income.  If our shows are not able to run from 6- 12 weeks, we could stand to lose upwards of $100,000. Yikes! As you can imagine, this would be a devastating blow to our little company.

Here are some great ideas to help us out:

  1. Purchase a Gift Certificate now to use in the future.  For every $100 you purchase in Gift Certificates, we will email you an additional $20 Gift Certificate FOR FREE!
  2. Purchase tickets for either of our Summer 2020 shows:  Rapunzel at the Beverly Arts Center, or Alice in Wonderland at the Stahl Family Theater.
  3. Purchase tickets to any of our Fall 2020 shows:  Pinocchio at the Beverly Arts CenterBeauty and the Beast at the Stahl Family Theater and Mrs. Claus! A Holiday Musical at all three theaters!
  4. Click here to make a tax-deductible donation! Every donation, large or small, will help!
  5. Our Summer Theater Camps will go on as scheduled—and are always great fun for the kids.  Reserve your campers spot today!

Thank you for your support and understanding during the difficult time.  We hope everyone stays healthy and sane through these next few months.
